waiting again

Waiting for Keigan at the Eugene City Airport. He spent the weekend in Colorado with his Uncle Tim. His flight to Denver on Friday arrived early, so I figured I’d get to the airport early in case it was again. No Luck, scheduled 20 minutes late, and the airport is closed down so I cant even get to the gate to meet him. Stuck looking at the closed desert counter, wishing for a coffee. I had hoped to take him to sweet life when he arrives to grab a quick snack, but with the delay, I don’t think it will happen tonight.

Plane was 20 minutes late as he didn’t have a stripe on his ticket. Looking into it, it appears that they wanted him to fly as a minor, as opposed to an adult even though he is at the age when its ok to fly on his own.

He was feeling bad from the flight, no sweet life, but a quick trip to the grocery for some ginger ale. Possibly due to the rapid changes in altitude, the coast to Denver and back in 72 hours.

Caribe

Intense culture shock the last 2 days as we all try to bring ourselves back up to speed.

We spent the last two weeks in Peurto Viejo de Talamanca, on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. Yes our original plans were to spend the time on the pacific coast near Katia’s farm. But what’s the point of having made plans if you can’t break them at the last minute. Friday evening before I left we were still planning on the Pacific coast, but by saturday noon, the decision had been made to spend the time in Talamanca.

While we clean up, and put everything away, you will have to be content with the short version of the vacation.
  1. Sun
  2. Water
  3. Snorkels
  4. Surfing
  5. Hammocks
  6. Coconuts

Dry Mouth

The grand trip starts tonight, just one day after they announce that you can’t carry liquids on to the plane. My first thought had been to take my water bottle as usual and fill it up after I past security. Reading the instructions online as I printed out my boarding pass I see that they have stopped that as well. Even beverages purchased after the security screening are not allowed into the planes. Heres to Cotton mouth for everybody!

Very Quiet

So monday arrived, the family got off to Costa Rica, I received an email today letting me know everything was ok.

They are getting ready for their first Market day, which coincides with Costa Rica’s match with Ecuador in the World Cup. S expect’s it to be pure chaos and is ready for it, figuring its a once in a lifetime opportunity.

That being the main reason Ive been quiet. I’ve been trying to get every game on the computer so that they can watch the whole thing when they return.

So far Im only down 2 games—Poland v. Ecuador was not watchable, and todays game between Spain and Ukraine. Let me know if you have them.

flight

Arrived safe and sound a little bit ago, here in San Diego. It was interesting looking out the window as we came down the coast towards San Francisco, as the fog was rolling in and from above it appeared as an eerily white body of water.

Note to guys in the airport. If you walk into the Anchor Steam resturant at the airport, dont order a Corona, get one of the beers on tap. Myself I had the 22oz. Anchor Porter.

Steam beer is a lager brewed at ale temperatures.
