Back to School

Caden’s year of homeschooling is rapidly drawing to a close. Early registration for the last trimester is over today. He is once again taking Judo, Ice skating and Chess. Other than that we aren’t sure.

He told me yesterday after work that he had been accepted into the “village school” a public charter school modeled after the waldorf curriculum. He announced this with a big smile, yet a little trepidation. He has really enjoyed the time at home this year, and a new school is always hard. Though he does have a friend from waldorf that will be in his class, so that makes things easier.

School Choices

Tis the season to wander from school to school looking at which ones you want your child to attend for the next few years. As the school that Keigan is currently at ends at the 5th grade we are looking into all the middle schools to see where we want to send him.

Last night he and I went to the Roosevelt open house. I ended up in the library with the other parents and he was given a tout of the facilities. Tonight he is off to Spencer Butte to see what it looks like.

First day of classes

Caden started his Judo class this afternoon. He was dropped off with me, and I took a late lunch so I could watch him. One guardian is required to stay on the premises the entire time he is having class, but I enjoy having the opportunity to spend the time watching him.

MiniDV

Yesterday I picked up a new Canon MV800i camera from its flight overseas. Having a school meeting for the coming year didn't get a chance to play with it, other than to start wasting tape. When I get the chance I will start to upload some movies, but first I need to figure out the editing procedures, so no one is forced to watch plain old home movies over the web.

Today I was greeted at work by the second part of the camera, some more blank tapes as well as some little odds and ends to hold everything with.

Biking to school

The kids and I biked to Keigan's school today. For his last day, we finally did it. Not bad about 40 minutes there and another 30 back. I think with a little practice we could get that down to under a half hour each way. will try this afternoon.
