New Years Prediction

Bush receives intelligence that Osama is alive and well and has set up shop in a small mideastern country, one that has marginal ties to previous acts of terrorism. Bush spends much of the summer building the justification to invade said country. Interestingly invasion starts in early October, leaving just enough time for the military to gain control( end of combat operations) but not enough time for Americans to find Osama bin Laden as November elections take place.

Why an Open Review is Critical

and a programmer jailed for falsifying computer records.

The programmer, Jeffrey Dean, wrote and maintained proprietary code used to count hundreds of thousands of votes as senior vice president of Global Election Systems Inc. Diebold purchased GES in January 2002.

Instances such as this should give us all a pause in the rush to convert our outdated dimpled chad prone voting systems with state of the art electronic versions.

If an electronic voting system is needed, it needs to merely be an interface to print out a paper ballot with the correct choices marked. I dont think it would be a good idea for the machine even to keep a voting tally, once that happens people will not count the paper votes, but will rely on the machines internal count. leaving us with the doubts of whether our votes were counted correctly. It is too simple to write a program that verifys your vote to candidate X while placing a tally in candidate W’s box. Without the paper that can be looked at, and verified by the vote caster, all systems will be open for allegations of fraud that will make the 2000 florida debacle look tame

In about a week

In about a week or so the Republicans will realize they're going to need an actual presidential candidate. What a great line
