Bluetooth Headset
Yesterday a new headset for the phone arrived, a Plantronics 590a stereo headset. I tend to wear headphones while working, even though most days I am home alone, so I thought to get a pair that I could listen to music to and not have to switch when the phone rings.
Reading the reviews, I knew about the flashing blue light, but figured it really couldn’t be that bad. It is unless you are using them out in bright daylight. I had them pulled down around my neck today when I went to pick up Kiaya, and the blue light could be seen flashing through my beard.
I have had several calls with them, and no one has complained. I asked Sarieah about the sound, as usually she is the first to complain about a bad headset, we’ve had several through the years. She said I sounded really sharp. Keigan had troubles hearing me during one call, but I believe that was because I had my fingers on the mouth tube, trying to extend it at the time.
Battery life seems to be good, charged overnight and finally ran down late this evening. My last set of headphones, usb connection, would make my ears sore after several hours. These don’t seem to have that problem, though it’s only been one day.
video killed the radio star
“The unexpected power shift—from traditional music outlets such as MTV” Not sure I would have considered MTV to be a traditional music outlet, makes one feel slightly old.
The Concert that almost wasn't
Last thursday we all rushed out the door, on the way to being late to Keigan’s first school Orchestra concert. We all piled into the VW, and headed down the street. About a block away the engine started to sound funny, as if it weren’t getting any gas, always a bad sign, but with a faulty gauge, it is something we(I) have learned to deal with. We pushed it out of traffic, and while they all sat in the back, I grabbed the container from up on top and started running.
Back in a few minutes with 1 gallon, we started out again. Sarieah dropped Keigan and I off at the door and went looking for a place to park. Keigan and I entered by the back door, it looked as though we had missed it and they were already playing. As we entered the building and could hear what was going on, we realized they were still in the introductions. Keigan grabbed his violin, and took his place as the musicians shifted in their seats and adjusted their music stands for the last time before beginning.
I am in the processes of editing the tape for viewing but will have something up at some point soon.
Marley Corn
Listening to Bob Marley when I picked up Caden from school. As he listened along, he finally asked who we were listening to. When I said Marley, he told me they were singing a song about him at school. I thought for a while but couldn’t figure out what song he meant.
Finally he helped me out by mentioning that it had to do with corn. Thats when it all became clear, Bob MarleyCorn, or as its better known John BarleyCorn.
Panic
For the second time in my life I find myself in possession of a ticket to see Widespread Panic(WSP). The first time I was standing outside the Warfield theater, bummed that I wasn’t going to get in to see Phish, whom WSP was opening for, when I was handed a ticket.
Tonight Greg, from across the street, came over with a ticket for tonight’s show at the Cuthbert. He had found it in the street several weeks ago, and had forgotten about it. So I’m just about to fix yesterdays flat so I can bike down to the theater.
