Running
A little over a month ago, Sarieah decided she was going to start running a little. I joined her for a trial run around the track up at the university, the idea sounded good but I wanted to see how my breathing was going to be. Since that point, both of us have been trying to get out a little more and get our daily exercise. I usually stop in for a quick 30 minute run on the treadmill at the Y after dropping everyone at school in the mornings.
I started with running a mile, then pushed myself on to 20 minutes of running. After I knew I could continue running for 20 minutes and continue breathing, I started to push for 5 kilometers. As gifts for christmas we received nike+ systems, while not needed for the treadmills, they are nice for the track, or for running on the river trails.
Today I did my longest run so far, the short loop around the river. I started out thinking it would be a great run to take the dog on, though I was worried about the distance as it was a few km longer than anything I had done so far. Turns out the distance was not a problem for me, though mariposa was ready to quit halfway through, and I ended up pulling her the last half. Of course I’m not sure if she actually saved me, as without her I would have run lot faster, perhaps tiring out sooner.
I have put the nike+ widget into the sidebar to keep track of my last 5 runs, hopefully they will continue to get faster as I go.
First Indoor Season Finished
Caden’s team ended the season in First place, with a 5-2-0 record. For the second season, they have added a few more players to the team and splitting it into 2 equal teams. Looking at his upcomiong schedule, he managed to get a week off during the time we will be gone, so he won’t miss any games. This is important to us as he tends to drive us crazy, if not allowed to let off steam by kicking the ball around.
Vote doesn't matter
Keigan has asked me several times who I plan on voting for. He takes voting seriously, we sit down at the table and read the ballot together, he asking questions about it as we go. I had to tell him that it wouldn’t matter who I voted for this year, as the nomination will be sewn up by the time I get to cast my vote on May 16th.
While I can’t tell him who I will vote for in the Primary, we already know 2 votes in the general election. The Democratic candidate for president, and whoever is running against Gordon ‘FishKiller’ Smith.
Weather in the pass
The same pass, now with winter weather, I drove over a couple months ago.
Weather Delay
The little two managed to pull it off. Enough energy expended on wishing and they got a 2 hour weather delay for their first day back to school. With that magic phone call the whole house shuts down, the sandwiches are left as is on the kitchen counter and we all head back to our respective beds, for an extra bit of sleep.
The last thing I remember is hearing Obama surging in New Hampshire before Kiaya came running in shouting out the time. Quickly the house roused itself again, clothes came off the floor and back onto bodies, sandwiches were finished and packed away, the coffee pot sprung to life.
